The former Alvechurch private club that only opened as a pub in 2002 has been awarded Pub of the Year by Redditch and Bromsgrove Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The Weighbridge located in Alvechurch Marina on the Worcester Birmingham Canal was once the old Weighbridge office for offloading coal barges to horse and cart for local deliveries.

In 2002 it was converted into a cosy, canalside free house with a friendly atmosphere serving real ales and good value home cooked food.

The regular beers are Tillerman's Tipple brewed by local brewery Weatheroak Ales and Bargees Bitter brewed by Enville Ales, both of which are tasty and hoppy session bitters. In addition to the regular bitters guest beers are invariably from a local microbrewery.

In a recent award the beers were judged to be in superb condition, the judges highlighted other aspects of the pub which contributed to the top marks achieved. These included a layout of three individual rooms each with their own character, a warm welcome and an individuality that has been lost in so many pubs, spoilt by pub companies with standard and tired themes. The judges also paid tribute to the selection of home made and good value food that is served.

The pub runs two beer festivals a year aimed at supporting local breweries.
